Leaving Guam

for Swallow Island in the
Reef Islands on Feb. 12, 1966.
Navy Ships
Navy Ships on
the high seas.

I got seasick very quickly and remained
sick for two days. As we neared the equator,
the seas seemed to be especially high.
We saw a school of whales one day.
We were to first stop at Gizo in the
New Georgia Islands to drop off supplies
for a tracking station located there.
We sailed along the Bismark Archipelago
and passed close to New Ireland. Later
the island of Bougainville was also visible.
