The writer had seen a few islands of the vast Pacific Ocean and visited places which are hard
to find on most maps. Some of these places were to become part of independent nations
later on. The writer gained an appreciation of the scope of World War II in the Pacific. In our
shelter on Swallow Island, oftimes we would play the music of Victory at Sea to
help pass the time and it always reminded me of the many battles and sacrifices made.
The writer was thankful for God's protection and was glad to be going home.
